FAQ

How often should I have maintenance done?

A thorough maintenance should be done once per year for your AC (typically in March – May), and once per year for your heating system (typically September – November).

This not only helps your system to run more efficiently and lower your utility bills – it can also drastically extend the life of your system. In some cases, we can detect an upcoming failure before it happens and make repairs immediately to prevent costly emergency service during the hottest (or coldest) time of the year.

What if my system is running constantly but not cooling?

If your system is running constantly and not meeting the set temperature, we recommend turning off your system immediately and scheduling the soonest available service. While there are multiple issues that can contribute to this, the most common (and most damaging) is a refrigerant leak. We like to compare this to running your car without oil. If this is the case with your system, turning it off immediately could prevent further costly damage to your compressor.

My unit is leaking refrigerant. Can I just have more refrigerant added?

Unfortunately if refrigerant is already escaping from your system, the added refrigerant can be expected to leak out as well. We perform detailed leak tests to find where the leak is coming from. If the leak can be sealed using either a sealant or by brazing the leak, that could be the first course of action. However, we can’t guarantee the length of time a sealant would hold. If the leak is in your evaporator or condenser coil, we typically find that replacement is the most cost effective option.

Why is my AC unit leaking water?

There are several causes for an AC water leak. The most common we see are a clogged drain line, an unlevel evaporator coil leaking outside of the drain pan, or insufficient insulation on the refrigerant lines causing them to sweat.

Whichever is the cause of your water leak, we recommend having a professional AC technician come to your home ASAP to prevent damage to your home.
